Dr. Singha always said, "Nip it in the bud." At the slightest symptom of cold and flu, he would often tell his patients to take a Mustard Bath and do a Broiled Orange Fast.
Life today contains many congesting elements for the body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Singha called these “encumbrances.” By example, he showed people how to clear these in simple ways. Discipline and focus are required to get the job done. A typical session with Master Healer and holistic Dr. Singha would involve a brief exchange as to any symptoms, followed by a masterful acupuncture session and maybe an osteopathic adjustment, with some simple but not necessarily easy instruction. Dr. Singha’s instructions might well be a mono-fast (eating one food only throughout a certain period of time), supplements, and some special exercise or meditation relating to the issue at hand. Most of his patients at one time or another would be put on a fast which was naturally customized for their individual and specific need. Having said that, there was one fast in particular that he encouraged to flush toxins out, alkalinize the body, and pump up the immune system… the Broiled Orange Fast, most often done for 7 – 10 days. However, if someone was in a crisis, Dr. Singha might have told them to do it longer, for 14 – 21 days. In the experience of those well-acquainted with the fast, a typical fast day would mean 4 large broiled oranges per meal per day.

To get rid of clutter, we must develop awareness and focus to let go of that which is unnecessary and holds us down. Energy stagnation comes in many forms. Oranges Before and After Broiling
Cut the oranges in half, then broil the halved oranges in the oven for approximately 10 minutes, until cinnamon brown. The white has to be mushy, so that the vitamins of the flesh and the skin can mix. When ready, cut into quarters and eat everything but the rind. Organic Valencia oranges are the most popular for this fast. Sometimes the oranges become bitter from being heated. That is likely to happen with Navel oranges, which have more white. Bitters are considered blood-purifiers and appetizers in ethnic medicine.
